Inspection Test Plans

Quality Assurance You Can Actually Demonstrate

Your customers and regulators want evidence that quality standards were met. An ITP is how you provi

An Inspection Test Plan is a documented quality management tool that specifies what needs to be inspected or tested at each stage of a production or construction process, who is responsible for carrying it out, what the acceptance criteria are, and what evidence needs to be retained. It creates a structured, auditable record that quality standards were actively verified throughout the process rather than assumed at the end.

For manufacturers, an ITP gives your customers confidence that the product they are receiving meets agreed specifications at every stage of production. For builders and construction businesses, an ITP documents the hold points, witness points and review stages that demonstrate your quality management obligations are being met on a project.

Foresight ELS develops tailored ITP solutions for manufacturing businesses and construction companies across South East Queensland. We build ITPs that are fit for purpose for your specific product, process or project, practical enough for your team to follow, and structured to satisfy the customer, regulatory or contractual requirements you are working to.

ITPs for Manufacturing

Manufacturers selling product to commercial customers, government clients or into regulated supply chains are increasingly required to demonstrate documented quality assurance rather than relying on end-of-line inspection alone. An ITP establishes the inspection and testing regime for your production process, identifying the critical control points where product quality needs to be verified and documented before the next stage of production proceeds.

We develop manufacturing ITPs that cover incoming material inspections, in-process quality checks, critical assembly or fabrication hold points, final inspection and testing requirements, and the documentation trail that gives your customers and any relevant regulatory body confidence in your product. Where your business is working toward or maintaining ISO 9001 certification, we ensure your ITP framework aligns with your quality management system requirements.

What a manufacturing ITP typically covers:

  • Raw material and component inspection criteria
  • In-process inspection hold and witness points
  • Testing requirements and acceptance criteria at each stage
  • Non-conformance identification and recording processes
  • Final product inspection and release criteria
  • Traceability and record-keeping requirements

ITPs for Construction

Construction quality management plans and ITPs document the inspection and testing regime for a project, specifying where work must be inspected before it can proceed, what testing is required and by whom, and what records need to be retained. For builders working under formal quality frameworks or with clients who require demonstrated quality assurance, an ITP is an essential project document.

We develop construction ITPs and quality inspection frameworks that cover the specific work types and quality obligations on your project, structured around your contract requirements and aligned to your quality management plan where one exists.

What a construction ITP typically covers:

  • Hold points requiring client or certifier sign-off before work proceeds
  • Witness points where independent verification is required
  • Testing requirements for materials and completed work
  • Inspection checklists for each work type
  • Non-conformance reporting and rectification processes
  • Record retention and handover documentation requirements

Starting From Scratch or Improving What You Have

Some businesses come to us needing an ITP built from the ground up because a client or regulatory body has required one and they are not sure where to start. Others have existing ITPs that have not been reviewed or updated in years and no longer reflect their actual processes or current requirements. We work with both situations and tailor our approach to what your business actually needs.
